Protecting the environment and our people
This week we welcome our new intern Maisie into The Good Registry’s team. Maisie will be with us for the next 14 weeks to gain some hands-on experience in communications, help with our social media and help with brainstorming new ways that we can give kindness and share the love.
Maisie has freshly entered her 20s and is in her third and final year of her Bachelor of Communications degree at Massey University of Wellington. As a Public Relations major and a Media Studies minor, Maisie would love to spend the next few years building her profile as a young professional through gaining work experience in the constantly evolving worlds of media and business.
Maisie has grown up in a family of four (six including her golden retriever Beau and her large tabby Tino) and is originally from a little beach called Ruby Bay which sits just outside of Nelson. Growing up she enjoyed all things to do with the sun, sea and sand. Whether it was competing in artistic gymnastics, trying her arm at kitesurfing or acting onstage she loved to keep busy. Since moving to Wellington Maisie enjoys house music, spending time with friends, testing out the city’s best cheese scones (her favourites are currently at Swimsuit and Enigma), going for walks along oriental parade or exploring the shops on Cuba Street.
In terms of current and previous work, Maisie works part-time at ANZ. Over summer she worked in an internship role at WildTomato Lifestyle Magazine and last year Maisie was Massey University’s Bachelor of Communications Student Ambassador. Additionally, she has also spent some time scooping ice creams for Nelson’s beachgoers and speaking on a student-led radio show.
So why The Good Registry? Maisie is in support of all things to do with protecting the environment and our people. Conscious about the impact of our actions on the environment, she loves the part The Good Registry plays in the reduction of mass consumption and unnecessary waste. Like many of us, she has also received several gifts that have spent their entire lives stowed away in her bottom draw, untouched and unused. Before hearing about The Good Registry she was unsure how to stop this normalised process of unnecessary gifting …. now she knows it is easy — “we just have to jump on board and choose to give kindness not stuff!” In joining the team Maisie aims to share this realisation and show her friends and family that it is so easy to take the waste out of gift-giving and replace it with kindness.

The Good Registry is a gift website where people give kindness instead of stuff.
Anyone from small kids to big businesses can show they care with donations to good causes instead of unnecessary gifts — using charitable gift cards or charitable registries:
- Create your own Good Registry for a special event and ask friends and family to donate to a charity you choose (like Jess did).
- Give Good Gift Cards instead of traditional gifts, to show people you are thinking about them, and enable them to donate to charities they care about (Like Catalyst IT does for staff birthdays).
